Power of Books

“A book is a gift you can open again”, this quote by Garrison Keillor itself defines the prominence of books. If anyone asked me what are books? I would have one simple answer a book is the most loyal and trusted friend that is always ready to help you

Books are packed with many things like general knowledge, stories, etc.

A book has many merits and the most important, in my opinion, is that it teaches us moral values. It teaches us the importance and uses of different things, and it also contains unlimited knowledge that a person cannot stop reading.

The other thing about the book that I think is very convenient is that books tell us about history; when a person reads history, he realizes the mistakes done by the leaders and people in the past and not to do the same in the future as said in the famous quote “those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.”

Once there was a king who became very sick and announced that the person who cured him will be given whatever he desires.

When people heard about this, many specialists went to the king and tried to cure him but all of them failed, until one day an ordinary man reached the king, it looked like the man did not really care about the price as there was no excitement that could be seen in his face.

The person examined his patient and started the operation. After the operation, the king felt more relaxed, and within a few days, he became completely healthy, now everybody in the city started to wonder what the man will ask.

Some said he would ask for a lot of gold and some said that he would ask for half of his kingdom. But they all got a shock as the man asked for all of the books in the royal library. This shows how much books have importance among people.

Books, except from giving knowledge, also increase our memory boost our imagination, and help people to take a step further in their ideas and exert them in real life.

I would like to end with the famous quote which I really like “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies; the man who never reads lives only once.”
