Robots.txt file

The robots.txt file is a simple text file that is placed on a website's server to communicate with web crawlers and other automated agents, such as search engine bots.

The file is used to indicate which parts of a website should or should not be crawled or indexed by these agents.

A robots.txt file contains a set of rules, called "user-agent" and "disallow" rules, that tell web crawlers which pages or sections of a website they should or should not access.

For example, a website owner might use a robots.txt file to prevent search engines from crawling a page that contains sensitive information or to prevent the crawling of certain sections of the site that are not useful to the search engines.
